Message : Porting/polishing, headers, higher compression, longer duration cam, additional fuel/air should amount to something. If it would work on any other NA motor, why not the 300? Maybe the JWT chip doesn't compensate for the add-ons? If you did the same mods on a SBC, you would net a serious gain. I know I'm comparing apples to oranges, but the principles remain the same. Increasing air/fuel, flow into/out of the compression chamber makes more power. I personally think that the JWT chip is a good mod for minor mods, but it probably does not compensate for larger mods. When I did all these mods to my SBC, I had to compensate with a larger carb and fuel pump, and netted a serious gain in power. What are we doing to the Z other than a computer chip to take advantage of these mods fully? I once read how a free-flow exhaust/intake made an OBD-II computer on a Camaro limp home with trouble codes and no gain in power. Once the chip was reprogrammed, the Camaro made a pretty big jump in performace. The JWT chip does not get reprogrammed afterwards to allow for the further mods other than your average stage 2-3 bolt-ons. Anyone have any feedback?

>>>With a SBC you have almost twice the displacement ( 5.6L vs 3.0 L ). Normally aspirated small bock making 550-600hp is very very tough to do...mucho dinero in total custom built racing engine and would make that power at very high rpms if at all...and this would be comparable to trying to make 300hp out of a normally aspirated 3.0 L v6.
